Magen David Adom can be seen as a reection of Israeli society. The many
facets of Israel today are mirrored in the people that make up Magen David
Adom’s outstanding and heroic life-saving team.
It could be said that Magen David Adom represents our aspirations for
the future. A future when all the groups – or tribes – that make up Israel’s
population live together, work together and build lives together, in harmony.
We see this is in Magen David Adom, where Israelis of different ethnic groups,
religions, and gender come together to save the lives of both those from their
own tribes and those from others. Arab and Jew, secular and religious, Druze
and Christian; Magen David Adom truly brings together all the diverse groups
in our society and it does so for the most important purpose – life.
In this collection of photographs, Jonathan Straight has successfully and
impressively captured the many faces of Israel through not only the lens of
his own camera but through the lens of Magen David Adom. These pictures
speak volumes about what we have the potential to achieve when we join
for a common goal.
At a time when there is so much focus on our differences and the things that
divide us, it is both refreshing and reassuring to see what happens when we
come together. This is indeed a reection of the future we seek.

of the devoted teams who make it possible for Magen David Adom to
undertake its life-saving work even under the most difcult conditions,
and to Jonathan Straight for capturing this so precisely and in so much
detail in this wonderful collection.
